2018 - Day 3

We got off to an earlier start this morning, though it still felt like time was going by way too fast. The alarm rang at 6am, and we had a relaxing start to the day, only getting on the road at 8am. It was ridiculously windy today, something that would stick with us all day.

If I thought that Saskatchewan couldn't get more boring than yesterday, was I ever wrong. The stretch from Moose Jaw to Estevan was so boring it was almost painful. I've been over that road before, but then it was such a relief that the rain had stopped that it seemed like a nice area! No rain today, just wind and sunshine.

We stopped for lunch in Estevan, and from there it was another 40km to get to the border crossing. The transition into the USA went smoothly, and we were back rolling shortly. Time seemed to have lost all meaning, but later in Minot we finally realized that we had crossed into the Central time zone, losing an hour. That helped to make sense of the day seeming to slip by faster than it should have been. It got up to 30 celsius in the afternoon, and we ditched the jackets to enjoy the warmth and the sunshine.

There was some nice country north and south of Minot, some rolling hills at least to break up the scenery. North Dakota seems to be booming, there was a lot of work being done everywhere. Leona and I kept commenting on how nice all the yards look, as well as all the small towns. I remember very little from coming through here 4 years ago, mostly just riding through a downpour back then.

The last hour into Jamestown, ND felt like a long stretch. The wind was brutal and it was making us quite tired. Both of us were happy to call it a day, it was 7pm by the time we arrived, and it was high time to eat some dinner.

This is about as scenic as it got today!
