Packing Day

Well it's been a long time since the last post on this blog, due in part to the fact that not much has been happening in my life besides work. The project I've been working on for much of the winter/spring finally came to an end, which means there's another vacation coming up. Quite a few people have asked if I was planning to blog again as I travel this summer, which has actually helped me to decide to do this again for my cross Canada trip. It is an easy way for those interested to follow along, and it really doesn't take that much time. Looking back at last year's trip was a good way to bring back some memories.

Today has been a bit of a whirlwind, trying to get everything done so that I can depart early in the morning. I've got a fairly ambitious plan, trying to get to the Saskatoon area by tomorrow night. It will be a long ride, as I've never done more than 850km in a day, around 1200km. Most of the preparation is complete now, except for packing the bag, which I will probably do last minute again. I don't enjoy the packing process, as I'm always stressed about forgetting things, but it will be worth it once I'm out on the open road.

As was the case last year, there are places I want to make sure I see, but for the most part the trip isn't planned too much. The goal is to visit all the provinces to the east of Alberta, and then ride through some of the north eastern and central states on my return leg. I've always wanted to see more of the country I call home, so primarily that is the point of this trip. Hopefully the weather is nice as I travel, and the sun follows me more than the rain! Anyway, time to get a few more things ready and packed, next post will be from the road.

For those of you out there that pray, maybe send a prayer up for my grandmother and my mom, aunts, and uncles. She's been quite sick the last few days, which is always a little concerning for the elderly. She is a great woman, and the world is a better place with her in it.
