2017 - Day 5

Today was kind of a rest day, or it felt like it anyway. We slept in until just after 8, getting up and drinking coffee and doing our daily Bible reading. By the time we finally left the house it was after 10:30, and we rode south to Chemainus. Once there, we walked around the small town, eventually having lunch at one of the small cafes. Just as we were leaving, a couple stopped us and started making conversation. They were riders as well, members of the Christian Motorcyclists Association, and we had a nice chat with them. Throughout the day we had some nice conversations with people, who seem mostly friendly here.

After we were done in Chemainus we headed north back to Nanaimo. We hung out at the bay for quite a while, watching birds and just relaxing. On the way back to our house, we got some groceries so we have some breakfast food at the house. We spent some time exploring the yard we are staying at, it's amazing how much work our hosts have done on their place.

There are hummingbirds here, quite a few of them actually, and there's one on each side of the yard the guards their area. The other, smaller birds, come in to get some water at the feeders, and the guards always chase them away. It's kind of hilarious, and interesting to sit and watch them. They get closer to us than expected, a few times almost within reach.

Now it's getting close to bedtime, so time for me to sign off, goodnight.

This is just down the street from where we are staying, prolly a 5 minute walk
